GiveADinnerParty.com will donate £40 extra to the first 100 events for Action Against Hunger’s Great Get Together campaign.
Food lovers around the UK are being asked to step up to the plate this Thanksgiving by hosting a dinner party with a difference, to raise vital funds for severely malnourished children.
The Great Get Together, launched by Action Against Hunger UK, encourages people to get together with friends and family, share a tasty meal and make a donation in appreciation of their culinary prowess. The money raised will contribute to the charity’s life-saving work in nearly 50 countries worldwide.
Allowing people to create an online ticketed event for their Great Get Together, innovative meal sharing site GiveADinnerParty.com (GADP) has partnered with Action Against Hunger, creating a space for people to promote their event to friends and family, and also find and join dinner parties in their local area. By signing up to host an event on the site and following the simple, signposted process to select Action Against Hunger UK as the chosen charity, events are then listed on the site for members to buy tickets and join in the worthy cause.
To help support the campaign further, GADP will donate an extra £40 directly to Action Against Hunger UK for the first 100 dinner parties with four or more guests that are listed on the site – a great way to boost fundraising at no extra cost to the host!
Mark Viegas, Founder of GiveADinnerParty.com said: “We’re thrilled to be part of a campaign which will both bring people together and result in real change to the lives of those less fortunate around the world. This cause is one close to the hearts of many and is especially poignant around Thanksgiving, a time of abundance, which is why we have chosen to give additional donations to the first 100 events. We hope to see many people and communities getting involved and signing up to make a positive change!”
Jean-Michel Grand, Executive Director of Action Against Hunger UK said: “Right now, our teams are carrying out life-saving work in some extremely challenging crises, including in north-east Nigeria, South Sudan and Yemen.”
“We simply couldn’t do this work without the incredible generosity and kindness of individuals. We hope the people of the UK will get behind our campaign and help make this year’s festival extra special – showing thanks for the nutritious food they have while raising funds for those that don’t have enough.”
Following the growing trend for Thanksgiving celebrations in the UK, with one in 6 Brits embracing the tradition*, The Great Get Together encourages people to use this foodie feast for good by helping to raise more than £35,000 for the organisation’s work in some of the world’s most desperate and under-reported food crises. The campaign is hoping to see more than 1,000 Get Togethers taking place across the country on and around 24 November.
Everyone that signs up to host a Great Get Together will also receive a free dinner party pack, which includes a range of recipes, and there’ll even be some fun party games to help make it a night to remember.
