Iceland’s WOW air adds Montreal and Toronto to their lineup of cheap transatlantic services!

WOW air, Iceland’s only low-cost airline, has today announced flights from the UK to Canada beginning in May 2016 from just £99 one way including taxes¹. Flights will depart London Gatwick for both Montreal and Toronto via Reykjavik, offering travellers the cheapest connection between Europe and Canada.

Tickets for the Canada flights are on sale NOW via www.wowair.co.uk.

Services to Montreal International Airport will begin on 12 May 2016 and operate four days a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Toronto services will then commence on 20 May 2016 with the same weekly departure days. Both services will both operate year-round.

WOW air’s expansion into the Canadian market follows the successful launch of transatlantic services from London Gatwick to Boston and Washington DC in early 2015. Both services now operate year round and maintain consistent carrier loads of 90% plus.

Launched in November 2011, WOW air now connects twenty destinations across the US and Europe with the Icelandic capital. Total passenger numbers for June to August 2015 were up a massive 45% on the previous year with 295,000 passengers transported on business and their summer holidays. Passenger loads across all services averaged 95% in July.

Skúli Mogensen, sole owner and CEO of WOW air, said: “When we announced the launch of our US routes last year, we promised that it was just the beginning of our growth into North America. I’m thrilled to now announce our new routes to Canada, a country close to my heart having lived there previously.

“We have just had our best summer ever and with these new routes launching in May 2016, next summer is another chance to break records. These great Canadian cities will become our 21st and 22nd destinations and I look forward to announcing the 23rd in the not-too-distant future!”

The flights from Reykjavik to Canada will be operated using WOW air’s fleet of new Airbus A321 Extended Range aircraft. The airline’s Airbus A320 family aircraft will carry passengers from London Gatwick to Reykjavik on the first leg of the journey.
