On Saturday 24 June 2023, PLAY, the bright red low-cost Icelandic airline, marks two years taking to the skies by offering its loyal customers and future travellers an early bird winter season sale, launching on 20 June to 4 July.

Ahead of Iceland’s most popular season, when a glimpse of the Northern Lights is on every traveller’s wish list, PLAY is offering customers the chance to plan ahead and bag a bargain.

From London Stansted to Reykjavík, passengers will pay just £39, 40% cheaper than the current average ticket price for September flights (correct as of 19 June). From Liverpool John Lennon, travel to Reykjavík costs just £45, and from Glasgow, £59, granting savings of 31% and 38% respectively.

If the US is calling, passengers departing from all three UK cities can travel via Iceland on to Baltimore, Boston, Washington D.C. or New York from as little as £179, providing a maximum saving of 46%, compared to the average ticket price in September.

Flight period: 5 September – 18 October 2023 & 31 October – 13 December 2023.

Two years since taking off on its inaugural flight from Keflavík in Iceland to London Stansted (24 June 2021), PLAY has gained substantial awareness in London, Liverpool and Dublin, the latter two routes having launched in 2022. London Stansted, which has operates daily, has consistently operated PLAY’s most popular route, with May 2023, being a record month for the airline.

Speaking of the airline’s success to date, Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, said: “PLAY takes pride in its simplicity, excellent customer service, competitive pricing, and an extensive route network.

“By strategically establishing a comprehensive route network, we’ve been able to ensure connectivity to popular destinations, making travel more convenient than ever. One of the key factors that sets PLAY apart is our commitment to offering competitive pricing. By adopting a low-cost business model, we’re able to provide our customers affordable fares.

“We thank all our customers for their loyal support since we launched, and we welcome all future passengers onboard our bright red aircraft, as we whisk them off to Iceland and across the pond, allowing them to pay less, and play more on their travels.”
