Trusted travel comparison expert, dealchecker, has discovered that 21% of British holidaymakers consider the perfect holiday to be child and family-free.
While a holiday spent enjoying quality time with a loved one(s) is the main reason over half (55%) of Brits will book a holiday this year, it might come as a surprise that this ‘quality time’ is wanted with their partner (53%) or their friends (12%), while spending time with children and extended family was a reason for holidaying for just 11% and 10% of Brits respectively.
However, with the pandemic having prevented people from travelling, the number of those choosing to book a holiday this year to visit relatives has doubled, with 30% stating their main reason for travelling in 2022 is to see family, up from just 15% in 2019, when dealchecker last conducted its consumer survey.
Lockdown has also increased the number of Brits seeking a solo trip this year, with 14% of respondents admitting that they look forward to spending time alone while on holiday, up from 9% in 2019.
