London Goes Lego Crazy
Trafalgar Square played host to a new Guinness World Record recently (Thursday 17 November), as the World’s Biggest Lego Ship took centre stage at the capital’s iconic landmark.
The event took place to mark ferry operator DFDS’ 150th anniversary and coincided perfectly with the official Guinness World Records day. Built from 1,015,000 Lego bricks and taking 900 hours to construct, the ship caused a storm with onlookers wanting to get as close to the action as possible.
The ship, named ‘Jubilee Seaways’, was first revealed in August 2016 but has since been touring Europe and the UK, making its debut UK appearance in September at the Port of Blyth’s Tall Ships event. On its first day it sailed into the capital and the Rooster team were all hands on deck to support the stunt.
Meanwhile around the corner, Leicester Square held an equally special event marking the opening of the World’s largest Lego store – sending the country Lego crazy!
