AD Lands First Northern Irish Client – Lyric Theatre, Belfast

We are AD brought in to tread the boards with new digital strategy

Digital agency We are AD has announced its first Northern Irish client as it’s brought centre stage to reshape the digital strategy for Belfast’s iconic Lyric Theatre.

AD will partner with cloud ticketing solution providers Spektrix to modernise the Lyric’s website and online booking system. As well encouraging ticket sales and consumer engagement, at the heart of the digital brief is the desire to reflect every part of the theatre’s core values from cutting-edge performances to educational programmes.

The AD team travelled to Belfast this month to run an on-site workshop, identifying the key business objectives, user personas and goals of the theatre and start to shape key page wireframes to help the creative team to implement a unique and focused digital solution.

The Lyric Theatre is the only full-time producing theatre in Northern Ireland and reopened its doors in 2011 with a spectacular new £18.1 million building on the site of the previous theatre, along the banks of the River Lagan. It has supported the early careers of local actors including the legendary Liam Neeson and Ciarán Hinds and aims to place local issues and people at the heart of its theatre.

“Maybe it’s the magic of show business, but it’s hard not to be swept up in the enthusiasm and passion of the Lyric Theatre team. We have extensive experience working in the arts but each project is so unique and we’re very excited about putting our learnings with the Lyric team into practice with a fabulous new digital presence,” said David Johnstone, Commercial Director at We are AD.

“We are thrilled to be embarking on this new project with AD. Their creativity and strategy for the redesign were everything we were looking for and their corporate values tied in closely with ours so of course we felt they were the best fit. We’re looking forward to getting to know more of the AD team and beginning a long-term partnership,” said Ryan Crown, Marketing Officer at the Lyric Theatre

AD has over 17 years’ experience working with clients across sectors, but with particular success in arts and culture, with clients including The Young Vic, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Almeida Theatre, Scottish Ballet and Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
