Europe’s leading golf development tour concludes against the beautiful backdrop of the Red Sea.

Egypt continues to affirm its reputation as a highly desirable location for elite sporting events with the Egyptian Tourist Authority (ETA) confirming a partnership with The HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour. The partnership sees the golfing tour conclude with the ‘Visit Egypt Tour Championship’, taking place at the Red Sea’s El Gouna Golf Club.

The historic country’s climate of plentiful sunshine and light winds combined with its scenic coast lines and world-class sporting facilities sees it regularly host professional tournaments across a variety of sports including windsurfing, diving and golf.

In association with El Gouna developers, Orascom Development Holding, and with the support of EgyptAir, the Visit Egypt Tour Championship will take place from 29 – 31 October, 2014. Hailed as one of the best golf courses in the country, El Gouna Golf Club’s Championship Course at the Steigenberger Golf Resort will provided the perfect challenge to the players, with its landscape of hidden bunkers, desert rough and lagoon features.

Ahead of the Championship the Tour’s Order of Merit will be renamed the ‘Race to El Gouna’. The top 60 golfers on the Race To El Gouna at the conclusion of the regular HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour season will be invited to participate in the event, which carries a £60,000 prize fund with £15,000 for the winner.

Omayma El Husseini, UK & Ireland Director for the Egyptian Tourist Authority commented “It’s an honour to support the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour as a key sponsor.   Thanks to Egypt’s sunny climate and excellent golfing facilities, it is renowned as a golfing haven. To therefore host the Visit Egypt Tour Championship, the pinnacle tournament in the Race to El Gouna and tour calendar, is even more significant as we continue to promote the country as a sports tourism destination.”

The best players on Europe’s leading development tour will be competing to seal their place in the top five on the Race to El Gouna at the end of the event and earn themselves a Challenge Tour card for 2015.

Daniel Godding, Director of Operations at the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour, commented: “El Gouna Golf Club will prove a fantastic setting for our season-finale, the Visit Egypt Tour Championship.  Working in partnership with ETA, Egypt Air and Orascom Development Holding will ensure not only an exciting championship, but one where players and spectators will be able to take in El Gouna’s stunning mountains and endless sea views.”

Amin Serag, General Manager of El Gouna, added: “We are delighted to be hosting the Visit Egypt Tour Championship at the spectacular El Gouna Resort on the Red Sea.

“We look forward to welcoming the top players on the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour’s Race to El Gouna for the Visit Egypt Tour Championship and are excited to see how they deal with the challenging course at Steigenberger Golf Resort.”
