Last month 54,752 Brits holidayed in Tunisia, a boost of 46 per cent on June 2012 and an incredible 42 per cent increase on June 2010 arrivals.
Figures for January-June 2013 are also up a massive 31 per cent compared to the same period in 2012, with an 18 per cent rise on the record-breaking 2010 figure.
With a number of new regional routes, hotel openings and exciting promotions from tour operators, the Mediterranean destination is set to welcome even more UK holidaymakers this summer.
- Brand new seaside resort Radisson Blu and Thalasso opened this year in Hammamet
- Thomson and First Choice will launch new weekly routes to Tunisia for Summer 2013 to Enfidha from Exeter, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and Norwich airport
- The revamped four star Welcome Meridiana hotel is now open in Djerba
- Movenpick Hotels and Resorts will open a new luxurious property in Djerba this year
“We’re delighted to see Brits going in larger numbers than ever before to Tunisia. This year, we’ve worked hard to extend Tunisia’s appeal by showcasing our 3,000 years of culture, outstanding natural landscape, prestigious golf courses, authentic agrotourism experiences and boutique hotels, so it’s fantastic to see that our efforts have led to a record-breaking number of UK tourists visiting our shores,” says Wahida Jaiet, UK & Ireland Director for the Tunisian National Tourist Office.
With plenty of deals still on offer this summer to suit all budgets, ages and interests, there’s no time like the present to book your family and cultural holiday, golf and city break or Sahara desert adventure in Tunisia.
