After a series of significant account wins and current client growth, Rooster has achieved a 47% increase in fee income, making 2022 the most successful year in its 23-year history.
The £2m+ independent PR agency has made a series of strategic hires throughout the year, including expanding its property and B2B PR teams and further growing its social media and marketing offering. Now a team of 29, Rooster has made 13 permanent hires this year, and opened a new office in Bristol.
18 retained client wins in 18 months
Rooster’s property division has expanded, now including Fairview New Homes, eXp UK estate agency business, Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust and Aire Park by Vastint UK.
B2B client wins include the Zeus digital freight start-up, Center Parcs’ conference and events offering, Resource Solutions recruitment outsourcing and Mirus aircraft seating.
WUKA period pants and Hawkes cider are added to the consumer portfolio, while the Cheval Collection and Jules Verne join Ambassador Cruise Line and Air Astana as Rooster’s most recent travel wins.
Yasmine Triana, Head of PR at Rooster said: “The success this year is no fluke; we’ve been working on our expansion for the last three years at least with a particular focus on our B2B and property offering. Having developed a strong portfolio of work in these sectors, and following the new hires dedicated to these areas of the business, we’re moving into 2023 in the most confident position we’ve ever been in.”
New York Christmas trip sacrificed for end-of-year bonus
Rooster’s ‘Christmas Party Incentive’ is measured against the y-o-y growth in fee income. 10% achieves a night away in the UK, 20% is two nights in Europe and 30%+ is rewarded with a three-night trip away as a team outside of Europe.
James Brooke, Managing Director at Rooster explains why it was decided to ditch the sought-after Christmas in New York: “It was put to a vote, with the option for a Christmas bonus and a less extravagant trip together. Let’s just say we had a fantastic time in Salzburg plus a £750 bonus in the November pay. While New York would have been epic, it was the best compromise while we all battle with the cost of living this Christmas.”
Rooster launched its first internship scheme this year, providing three-months paid experience to those hungry to start their PR career.
James continued: “There is no prior experience or qualification required for our interns – if you are creative, ambitious, and have a passion for the media, we want to hear from you. Our ambition is for interns to land a permanent role at Rooster following their internship, which has been the case for three interns this year already.”
