Artists Invited to Submit Work for New Riverside Installation in Brentford

Fairview New Homes and Creative Mile come together to deliver art installation on new canal path.
Dock Road by Vicki Cooke – Brentford is host to a thriving artistic community.
Fairview New Homes and Creative Mile are calling on local artists to bring their creativity to life this summer, with an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new outdoor art installation, “For the Love of Brentford.”
Set to transform the newly opened canal path behind Fairview’s Printmakers Yard development, the installation will run until spring 2027, turning this scenic stretch into a celebration of art, community, and connection. Featuring 10 selected artists, the exhibition will be inspired by this year’s Creative Mile theme – love – and become an official fixture of the 2026 Brentford Art Trail.
Artists are invited to submit work across a wide range of mediums, including painting, printmaking, collage, photography, video stills, and even images of three-dimensional pieces.
The chosen artworks will be professionally photographed and curated into a striking open-air gallery, accessible to all who pass along the canal. Each selected artist will also receive a £50 voucher, courtesy of Fairview, as a token of appreciation for their contribution.
The installation, “For the Love of Brentford,” will be officially unveiled on Saturday 18th July at Printmakers Yard, in what promises to be a lively celebration of local creativity and community spirit.
The new canal path – linking Point Wharf Lane with the Thames Path along the River Brent – not only provides a picturesque setting for the artwork but also enhances riverside access for residents and visitors alike.
Marketing Manager at Fairview New Homes, Daisy Carney, said: “Brentford has a rich and thriving arts scene that is deeply embedded in its identity. It’s important to us to celebrate that culture and play a meaningful role in it as we bring new homes to the area. That’s what inspired our collaboration with Creative Mile on this special project.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the submissions come in and to watch this exciting installation come to life. The installation coincides with the opening of the new canal path behind Printmakers Yard, creating a new walking route right through the heart of Brentford.”
Mark Pearce, Creative Director at Creative Mile said: “Brentford has many artists that are inspired by the town, particularly as it goes through a period of significant change. We are looking forward to seeing what they submit. This will be a great addition to Brentford and to this year’s Creative Mile weekend which takes place 4-6th September. This is the 6th year of the festival and will be celebrating with the theme of ” love”.
The new mural will be on the new canal path behind Printmakers Yard
Brentford has a growing contemporary art scene shaped by its riverside location, industrial heritage, and ongoing regeneration. Nearby, artist studios and collectives occupy repurposed industrial and canal-side sites such as Johnsons Island and XYZ Brentford, reflecting a strong culture of adaptive reuse and grassroots practice.
The annual Creative Mile arts trail highlights this collaborative spirit, opening studios, libraries and public spaces across Brentford to local and regional artists; at the 2025 event, Fairview New Homes hosted a printmaking workshop at its Printmakers Yard development, underscoring its support for the local arts scene.
Ongoing regeneration along the Great West Corridor continues to drive new cultural initiatives and public art opportunities, reinforcing Brentford’s identity as a riverside hub where heritage, community engagement and contemporary practice intersect.
“For the Love of Brentford” is the latest addition to this thriving cultural landscape. For those wishing to submit artwork for consideration, they can do by filling in this form by Monday 15th June – click here for the submission form. Open to anyone aged 16 or over.
