Where are the Best Hyatt Hotels for London Marathon Weekend? RoosterPR

Whether cheering from the sidelines this April or planning a 2027 race entry, Hyatt’s hotels in London have rooms available minutes from the London Marathon course.

The 2026 London Marathon returns on Sunday 26 April, with tens of thousands of runners set to take on the iconic 26.2-mile route from Greenwich to The Mall. But for the million-plus hopefuls who missed out on a place this year, attention is already turning to 2027’s ‘Double London Marathon’ – proposed to allow up to 100,000 participants to run over two days – with the public ballot expected to open the Friday before the race.

For those planning ahead, four Hyatt hotels across central London are positioned along key stretches of the marathon route, from the iconic Tower Bridge crossing to the final sprint down The Mall. If you’re looking to book early for a 2027 entry, each property offers something distinct for marathon visitors.

Below, spokespersons from each hotel share their perspective on why their location is worth considering for marathon weekend, and what makes each property a strong base for runners, supporters and spectators alike.

Which hotels put you right on the marathon route?

Of the four Hyatt properties, Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars has the most direct connection to the course. The hotel sits directly outside Blackfriars station, at the exact point where runners emerge from the Blackfriars underpass at mile 24, one of the race’s most dramatic moments.

Mohammad Labban, General Manager, Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars, says: “At mile 24, the runners are in the hardest part of the race, and the crowd energy as they come up out of the underpass and onto the Embankment is extraordinary. For spectators, you can step outside and be in the thick of it within seconds.”

The Grade II listed hotel, set on the former grounds of Henry VIII’s Bridewell Palace, is also a short stroll from the Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern, offering plenty beyond the race itself for a full marathon weekend.

Rooms at Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars typically start from £350 per night over marathon weekend. Book via this link for best available rates.

Tower Bridge is another defining point of the London Marathon, roughly halfway through the race where runners cross the Thames to a wall of noise. Andaz London Liverpool Street, Hyatt’s five-star lifestyle hotel in the City, is a short 15-minute walk from both Tower Bridge and the Tower Hill spectator area, one of the official cheer points on the course.

Miriam Varoli, General Manager, Andaz London Liverpool Street, says: “Tower Bridge is where the race really comes alive for spectators. It’s the moment everyone wants to see. The crowds are incredible, and it’s where you’ll get the best photographs.”

But it’s also one of the route’s busiest areas. “Our Andaz Hosts will be available 24/7 to suggest the perfect day while guiding you through race-day closures and crowds. We suggest, after fuelling up with a hearty breakfast at Eastway Brasserie, that you grab one of the hotel’s Brompton bikes and weave your way down to Tower Hill ahead of the crowds, then return post-race for a cocktail at Rake’s, one of the city’s most vibrant bars.”

Rooms at Andaz London Liverpool Street typically start from £320 per night over marathon weekend. Book via this link for best available rates.

Which hotel is closest to the finish line?

For those who want to catch the final stretch, Great Scotland Yard Hotel occupies one of the most coveted positions in London on marathon day. Tucked just off Whitehall and around the corner from Trafalgar Square, the hotel is moments from the finish line.

Gregory de Clerk, General Manager, Great Scotland Yard Hotel, says: “The post-race meet-up area at Horse Guards Parade is quite literally on the hotel’s doorstep. Our guests can leave the hotel and be part of that in under a minute, or stay put and celebrate in one of the hotels dining spaces.”

The hotel itself is one of London’s most distinctive stays. Now a five-star property in Hyatt’s luxury Unbound Collection, the site dates back over a thousand years when it was gifted to Kenneth III, King of Scotland, as a royal residence during visits to the English court.

“Ekstedt at The Yard, our restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt, or afternoon tea in The Parlour are lovely ways to celebrate after the race.”

Rooms at Great Scotland Yard Hotel typically start from £450 per night over marathon weekend. Book via this link for best available rates.

Which hotel is best as a quieter base away from the Marathon crowds?

Not everyone wants to be in the thick of race-day crowds, particularly families and runners’ supporters. Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill in Marylebone provides an elegant retreat on Portman Square, with swift Tube connections to all the key spectator points along the route.

Guillaume Paupy, AVP and General Manager, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, says: “We’re not on the route, but that’s actually the appeal for a lot of our marathon weekend guests. You can be at Tower Bridge, Blackfriars or Westminster in around 20 minutes by Tube, but when you come back, you’re in one of London’s most peaceful neighbourhoods with Hyde Park, Marylebone High Street and Oxford Street all on your doorstep.”

“For runners planning ahead for 2027, it’s a great base for training runs through Hyde Park and Regent’s Park, and for keeping the rest of the family happy with a London weekend that goes well beyond the marathon.”

Rooms at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill typically start from £400 per night over marathon weekend. Book via this link for best available rates.
