Diners on the Newcastle-Amsterdam route to find a heartfelt surprise during their Valentine’s meal.
Lovebirds sailing to the continent for a romantic Valentine’s break will want to ensure a clean plate, with DFDS offering a free bottle of champagne to passengers who find a red heart specially painted on their dinner plate.
The ferry operator has commissioned the special plates in its new North Sea Bistro to provide the lucky diners with an extra special experience as they sail for Amsterdam on the calendar’s most romantic evening. Crew members will present the champagne to the lucky winners, with the adorned plates distributed at random.
The result of a recent overhaul to the dining options on the ferry operator’s two cruise ferries, the North Sea Bistro provides an à-la-carte fine dining option for customers with pre-booked two course meals priced at just £31.50 for adults. Replacing the Blue Riband restaurant, the new bistro puts an emphasis on seasonal food quality and fresh ingredients, with sommelier-trained waiters on hand to recommend wine from an extensive selection, sourced from across the globe.
Other on-board dining options include The Explorer’s Kitchen, offering an international buffet selection from America to the Mediterranean, the Far East and India and the Coffee Crew, where Starbucks-trained baristas serve up refreshments, plus an extensive range of cakes, biscuits and sweet treats.
Couples looking to join the heart hunt on a last minute romantic getaway can benefit from DFDS’ limited time 2 for 1 mini cruise offer. Prices start from as little as £45pp, which includes two nights in an en-suite cabin and return coach transfers to/from Amsterdam city centre. This price is valid when booked by 28 February, for travel until 28 March. To book visit: www.dfds.co.uk/2for1
