Rooster to Pilot UK PR Programme for Air Astana

Rooster to Pilot UK PR Programme for Air Astana
30 November 2022 Samantha Anderson

Principal airline and flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan appoints Rooster to boost brand-awareness in the UK.

Following a competitive pitch process, Rooster has been chosen by Air Astana to deliver a multifaceted ‘corpsumer’ PR programme to drive brand awareness of the award-winning airline and Central Asia’s largest country, Kazakhstan, among adventure-seeking British travellers.

Founded in the autumn of 2001 and having taken delivery of its first aircraft in spring 2002, Air Astana has quickly grown from a small domestic and regional carrier with a handful of aircraft to a 4-star international aviation player, flying to 24 overseas destinations. Since its inception, Air Astana has won multiple awards, most notably the Traveller’s Choice Awards “Best of the Best” 2021 and for the last 10 years the prestigious 2022 Skytrax Awards. In 2022 Skytrax recognised Air Astana as the “Best Airline in Central Asia and CIS”, and for delivering the “Best Service in Central Asia and CIS”.

Rooster’s comms mission is to tell the little-known story of Air Astana, generating top tier coverage which places both Air Astana and Kazakhstan in the hearts and minds of British travellers looking to discover, learn and enjoy its rich and diverse culture. In addition, the Rooster team will implement a profile building campaign for senior figures including CEO Peter Foster, OBE who has been at the helm since 2005.

Richard Ledger, Senior Regional Manager at Air Astana, said: “We were impressed by Rooster’s notable experience not just within the travel space, but the broad aviation knowledge and expertise the team possess. Throughout the pitch process, Rooster clearly demonstrated an ability to build strong brand awareness and affiliation within the UK market for overseas clients, so we’re in no doubt that we made the right decision when appointing James and his team.”

James Brooke, Managing Director of Rooster, said: “Launched 20 years ago as a partnership between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems PLC, Air Astana is a rare untold aviation success story. We feel privileged to have been appointed in this milestone year and look forward to communicating why adventure-seeking Brits should experience the airline’s 4-star service and Kazakhstan’s unique tourism offering.”

Air Astana joins the agency’s travel and tourism account portfolio, alongside the likes of Ambassador Cruise Line, PLAY Airlines, Flight Centre UK, Orascom Hotels Management and Irish Ferries.

Rooster will leverage its deep-rooted media relations across travel, lifestyle, aviation, business and trade sectors to fulfil the brief, and build greater ties between the UK media, its readers and the airline.
