After two summers of record-breaking guest numbers, as outdoor adventure holidays were in high demand during Covid, the year-round mountain resort destination of LAAX in the Swiss Canton of Graubünden has announced four brand new fixtures for Brits to enjoy on their summer holidays this year.
Famed for being one of the world’s best freestyle resorts in the winter months, LAAX transforms into a haven for mountain bikers, hikers, skaters and families in the summer. All the new activities allow guests to enjoy the most unique and characteristic elements of LAAX with the entire family this summer.
Sleeping under the stars in the UNESCO
LAAX has created a brand-new experience for stargazers. Spend the night in the open air at 2,100 m above sea level in the middle of the Tectonic Arena Sardona UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a home cooked local meal at the Segnes hut, an expert geo guide will explain the formation of the Alps as the moon lights up the landscape, while the constellations are visible in one of Europe’s clearest night skies.
The new package includes:
- 1 overnight stay from Saturday to Sunday under the starry sky in the open air at the Sardona Visitors’ Pavilion
- Dinner and breakfast at the Segnes Hut
- Packed lunch for Sunday
- 1 day hiking ticket mountain railways Flims Laax Falera
- 1 ride with the Nagens Shuttle (Laax – Alp Nagens)
- Outdoor equipment for hire (Sleeping bag, sleeping mat, bivouac bag and solar lamp)
Prices start at CHF 139 for adults and the experience is bookable on weekends from 25 June to 18 September 2022.
New Segnes Bike Trail
The Segnes Trail is a 2.7 kilometres, red skill level flowing enduro trail, which mountain bikers will be able to enjoy from August 2022. The trail is perfect for intermediate mountain bikers looking for their next challenge, with a terrain perfect for practicing new skills in safety. Guests have the luxury of a ski lift that can carry their bike all the way to the top of the trail again while they recover from the adrenaline rush.
Prices for a one-way lift pass with bikes start at £12 for adults and £6 for children.
Kids Party at Lake Laax
Two days just for kids: On 23 and 24 July 2022, 46 great attractions await the destination’s youngest guests at the Children’s Festival in the village of Laax. With a boat taxi on Lake Laax, face painting, a reed maze, a wood workshop, a carousel and many other special highlights, all activities are designed with kids in mind.
Entry to the party day costs £5.
Freestyle Academy Goes to the Circus
Built over 1,200 m², the legendary Freestyle Academy offers a top-class playground, and was the very first Freestyle Academy in Europe. After almost 12 years, it will be demolished in spring 2022 and completely rebuilt by 2024 to be entirely carbon neutral. A huge circus tent from Switzerland’s national circus has been erected and will serve as a temporary home for the freestyle hall from 25 June 2022, complete with trampolines, skate parks, and new, surprise, circus additions.
Day passes start at £35 for adults and £28 for children.
