Over a year on from the first lockdown and with a return to normality now in sight, Tempur Sleep Expert, Suzy Reading, is on hand this Mental Health Awareness Week to help get the nation’s sleep hygiene back on track.
Sleep routines have been hugely disrupted for many of us following a year of restricted movement, lockdowns, health concerns, separation from family members and friends, remote working and children at home.
Acutely aware of how the nation’s sleep has suffered this past year and how it impacts our mental health, it is important to re-examine our sleep habits as the next chapter unfolds.
To help Brits get back on track, premium mattress brand, Tempur®, is offering a free workshop to promote better sleep and advise on the relationship between sleep and wellbeing.
Covering the following topics and coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week, the talk will take place at 13:00 on Friday 14th May, and will include a 15-minute open Q&A session to tailor the conversation to participants’ specific sleep needs*.
- What constitutes good sleep and what lies within our control?
- Understanding the mechanisms that put us to sleep
- Identifying lifestyle and environmental factors that promote sleep and those that interfere
- Tips on how to get to sleep and get back to sleep
“2020 was a year like no other and disrupted sleep was a well-publicised side effect,” says Tempur sleep expert and chartered psychologist, Suzy Reading.
“As we gradually head back towards a more ‘normal’ existence, it’s important to explore how we can get our sleep patterns back on track and prioritise healthy sleep habits.
“So many factors can have an impact on both the quality and quantity of our sleep. ‘Tempur Talks Sleep’ is a wonderful initiative, designed to help Brits recover good routines, learn about useful sleep mechanisms and encourage quality, restful slumber.
“If your sleep has been suffering, you’re finding it harder to drop off, harder to wake up in the mornings, you’re waking in the middle of the night, or you’re simply interested in finding out more about the relationship between sleep and wellbeing, then join me on the 14th May for tips, tricks and techniques that can be easily incorporated into everyday life.”
The Tempur Talks Sleep seminar is free to join and open to all. To sign-up, visit the Tempur Talks Sleep page on the Tempur website and complete the online application. All participants present on the 14th May will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win one of 20 Tempur sleep masks (worth £35 each).
