- 10,000 UK tech contractors sign up to employment platform in just 9 months
- Covid-19 pandemic triggers 20% increase in UK-based tech contractors
- 22,000 expert tech skills available to businesses
- Global demand for tech contractors increased by 175% in the past 5 months
Techfynder, the only platform connecting employers directly with the world’s leading technology contractors, has expanded operations to the UK to meet significant demand from global businesses to find highly-skilled, UK-based tech experts.
Launched in October 2019 by tech entrepreneur Praveen Madire, Techfynder is the only commission-free platform to address the critical need to source tech experts on a contract basis. Techfynder supports subscribed employers to connect with the best candidates based on their skills, experience and rates. Globally, the growth rate of technology contractors has increased by a staggering 175% in the past 5 months.
In 2019 there were approximately 300,000 tech contractors registered in the UK. Accelerated by changes to the UK workforce in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, this number rose by more than 20%, to 360,000 by the end of 2020.
Paul Guy, Marketing Director of Techfynder, explained: “In 2020 UK businesses in the telco, banking and trade sectors sought skilled experts to fulfil short-term projects addressing their immediate technology requirements. The massive shift to online accelerated the need for specialised experts to keep the online world up and running, with businesses enquiries for tech support up by nearly 25%. We expect employer subscribers to grow 40% by the end of 2021 and in just 9 months we’ve attracted a talent pool of 10,000 UK contractors, particularly since the IR35 regulations became apparent. We anticipate to exceed 25,000 UK contractors in the next 12 months.”
“The UK’s rich talent pool is of particular interest to our clients in Ireland, the Netherlands, and the UAE. Apart from the obvious convenience of speaking the universal business language, the nation’s operational and logistic skill set in Scientific Laboratories, Robotic Process Automation and engineering is the most in-demand from international businesses.”
22,000 tech skills and counting
Although the most sought-after tech skills by UK employers are SAP Fico, Oracle HCM Functional and ERP Cloud Engineers, there are 22,000 skills listed by contractors on Techfynder.
Guy continued: “In just the first few weeks of this year, new technologies in financial engineering, cloud commerce and data mining have appeared on the Techfynder platform that didn’t exist in 2020. Technologies are evolving at a pace that is impossible for businesses to keep up with, which is why employers are dependent on contractors to fill the skills gap. The specialisms in highest demand as a result of the pandemic globally include Security Analyst, Cyber Security, System Audit Engineers.”
Techfynder has noted regional skill strengths across the UK:
- London: Overall integration and financial analysis in London
- Manchester: Developers and project management
- Birmingham: System Engineers and IT Management
- Edinburgh: AWS, Networking
- Glasgow: Service Desk and Deployment
- Liverpool & Newcastle: Cyber Security
With head offices in Dublin, Ireland and Hyderabad, India, Techfynder is currently operational in over 132 countries. Over 120,000 tech contractors are signed up to the platform along with 300 subscribed employers, which sees 2,500 contractors employed every month on average.
