  • Global January-October tourist arrivals increased by 14.6% YOY and already 6.9 per cent up on January-December 2016 figures
  • UK arrivals have also already exceeded total 2016 levels

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) reveals 2017 is another record-breaking year for the island, with January to October 2017 figures already exceeding total visitor arrivals in 2016.

From January to October 2017, global tourist arrivals to Cyprus reached 3,408,473. This figure not only exceeds the level of visitors to the island during the same period in 2016 (2,974,412 – a 14.6 per cent year on year increase) but also exceeds the number of global visitors to Cyprus from January to December 2016 (3,186,531) by 6.9 per cent.

UK arrivals for January to October 2017 (1,174,358) are not only 7.9 per cent up on the same period in 2016 (1,088,562) but have also already exceeded the total UK visitors to Cyprus from January to December 2016 (1,157,978) by 6.4 per cent.

October 2017 saw a 13.9 per cent year-on-year increase in global visitors to Cyprus (406,870 compared to 357,194 in October 2016). There was a 0.5% increase in UK visitors with 134,575 October 2017 arrivals compared to 2016’s 133,889 October arrivals.

Mr Orestis Rossides, UK Director of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, said: “We’re delighted to have already surpassed 2016’s arrival figures by the end of October 2017. As well as being popular in the summer, Cyprus is a great destination for winter sun and we look forward to welcoming visitors from across the globe throughout the rest of the year.”
