Redwood City, CA – GoFundMe, the world’s largest fundraising platform, announced on Saturday that the fast-growing campaign titled “Donate4Mike” is now officially the largest GoFundMe campaign ever in the United Kingdom. The campaign raised an incredible £445,000 in just 12 days, from over 22,000 individual donors.
“Donate4Mike” was created by Kate Brandon in an attempt to save her husband’s life. Mike Brandon is suffering from cancer for the second time, and has exhausted all of his treatment options in the UK. Kate learned of a revolutionary treatment available at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, however, the couple is required to cover all associated costs – a staggering £400,000. Kate created the GoFundMe campaign with the hopes of raising the funds necessary to save her husband’s life, and she succeeded in just over one week.
To further support the Brandon family, GoFundMe has made a donation of £10,000 to the campaign.
Rob Solomon, GoFundMe CEO said, “Kate’s GoFundMe campaign for her husband Mike is an incredible example of the power of the GoFundMe giving community. Our team is thinking of Kate and Mike during this incredibly difficult time, and we hope he can get the treatment he needs as soon as possible.”
