- Annual Christmas pop-up campaign moves online to let chocolate lovers send their favourite Cadbury bars to loved ones for free.
- From 2 – 13 December, thousands of people will be able to ‘visit’ the festive Cadbury Post Office online at secretsanta.cadbury.co.uk.
- UK live streaming expert, Groovy Gecko, has worked with Cadbury, Bearded Kitten and VCCP to convert the popular event into a virtual experience, so people feel as though they’re truly popping into a Cadbury Post Office.
- 25,000 Cadbury chocolate bars will be sent out across the UK during the 12-day event.
For the past three years, Cadbury has spread Christmas joy with its national touring ‘Secret Santa’ pop-up post office; visiting popular retail centres and giving shoppers the chance to send their favourite chocolate bars to loved ones for free. But as a result of the current social distancing and lockdown restrictions, and due to the crowds that the pop-ups tend to attract, Cadbury has worked with leading live-streaming agency, Groovy Gecko, to create its first-ever virtual ‘Secret Santa’ post office.
This year chocolate lovers will have the opportunity to visit the Post Office online, streamed from a COVID-secure festive set, in order to post one of 25,000 free Cadbury chocolate gifts.
The Cadbury postal agents will be set up safely in a beautiful festive set, surrounded by Cadbury Christmas branding and emulating the traditional Post Office environment. There is also the option to send a personalised video message to the package recipient.
Jake Ward, Business Development Director at Groovy Gecko, added, “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Cadbury to convert their highly successful touring pop-up into a virtual format for the first time ever. The streams need to be interactive, and by incorporating a virtual queuing and video chat system, we’ve enabled the Cadbury ambassadors to still talk with customers and replicate that in-store experience and brand exposure when it launches in December.
“Another strength of this virtual post-office is that it is flexible and highly COVID compliant, meaning if a severe lockdown was put back in place for the holidays, the whole activity could continue virtually, and the Christmas spirit can continue.”
Paola Cassinelli, Senior Brand Manager for Cadbury Christmas said, “We’re so excited that VCCP have managed to pivot and bring our magical Postal Service experience online for 2020. This year we thought it was more important than ever to let people become a Cadbury Secret Santa and spread a little bit of Christmas magic to a loved one, whatever their reason might be!”
