ICU Nurses will be amongst The Resident’s first guests when its Soho and Covent Garden hotels re-open on 31st July 2020.

The Resident, a British hotel brand with sector leading guest appreciation and five hotels across London and Liverpool, has announced that it will be offering “Nights on Us” to nurses who worked on the frontline of the pandemic, as a thank you for their tremendous efforts.

From its first re-opening date of 31 July 2020, The Resident is committing 2020 room nights through its year-long partnership with the non-profit initiative, Nights On Us.

Nights On Us has been set up to provide complimentary two night hotel stays to ICU Nurses, the biggest UK wide thank you for their services. With over 6,000 nights pledged across more than 50 hotels, Nights On Us also supports the re-opening of the UK Hotel industry and the return of domestic tourism within the UK.

David JM Orr, CEO, commented: “Like the entire country, our teams, owners and Board, we are in awe of the exceptional resilience, kindness, hard work and personal sacrifice that have been made by our frontline and key workers during this unprecedented and difficult time.

“Our donation of 2020 room nights to Nights on Us is a chance for The Resident to show our appreciation for some of those whose unfaltering skill, empathy and endurance have helped so many during this global pandemic. They have looked after the safety and wellbeing of the nation, now it is our turn to look after them, safely. Along with our guests who will join us from 31 July, we look forward to giving ICU Nurses our renowned heartfelt service, which they all truly deserve.”

“We are so pleased that co-founders Jake, Greg, James and Tom along with Simon from Journey have implemented such an inspired idea. We look forward to welcoming the NHS heroes into our safe and quiet, stylish and self-sufficient hotels.”

Jacob Pickering, co-founder of Nights On Us commented: “We couldn’t think of a better way to mark the re-opening of the Hotel industry than by welcoming ICU Nurses, and we are so thrilled to have the opportunity to show them our gratitude for all they have done.”

The first hotels to re-open are Covent Garden and Soho on Friday 31st July 2020. Kensington, Victoria and Liverpool hotels are planned to re-open on Monday 28th September 2020, however The Resident is optimistic that these properties can re-open sooner.

Immediately prior to the full lockdown announced on 23 March 2020, all five of The Resident hotels finished their refurbishment programme and are now ready to welcome guests to experience the thoughtful style at the heart of the brand from the 31 July 2020. The refurbishment includes all bedrooms and lobby areas.

The Resident reflects British design provenance and aims to build on the leading guest appreciation scores the five hotels have established. The Resident Covent Garden has been consistently in the top 5 of London’s hotels on Tripadvisor since June 2019, having opened on the 4th February 2019. Each of The Resident’s city centre hotels are ideally suited for the situation we currently face. With relatively few rooms in each hotel, guests can be hosted safely with social distancing and trusted hygiene measures in place.

When not venturing out to eat, each of The Resident’s guestrooms have kitchenettes and the team will ensure a pre-ordered selection of essential groceries will be sanitised and placed in the larder fridge prior to arrival. Of course, guests are also welcome to order takeaways to be delivered to the hotel, which will be delivered to the door of the guestroom by a socially distanced member of the team.
