Dr. Elena Garcia Promoted to Director of Research at RAFT

Award-winning medical research charity RAFT today announces it has promoted Dr Elena Garcia to Director of Research.

Dr Garcia will be responsible for developing, directing and implementing the organisation’s research strategy as well as managing and co-ordinating its portfolio of scientific programmes. This will include ensuring research work is integrated across the organisation and fully supported by fundraising and campaigning as well as devising and overseeing the charity’s publications strategy and managing grant proposals.

Dr Garcia first joined the charity in 2011 as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientists and has since held roles as a Scientific Consultant and Science Team Leader – Regenerative Biomaterials. Prior to joining RAFT, Dr. Garcia was a Research Assistant & Part Time PhD Student at University College London’s Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science and a Research Assistant (Research and Development Department) at BioProducts Laboratory. In 2014, she also spent a year as Visiting Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology’s Institute for Health and Biomedical Innovation. She has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University College London as well as a First Class BSc in Biochemistry and First class BSc, MSc in Analytical Chemistry from Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain.
