23 August 2017 James Brooke

The £129.99 transatlantic fares are back to Cleveland, Cincinnati, St Louis and Detroit!

Ultra-low-cost Icelandic airline WOW air has today announced that it will be adding Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis and Cincinnati to its ever-growing portfolio of US destinations – with a new route from Stansted also announced today.

Daily flights from Stansted airport to Reykjavik (Keflavik International Airport) will begin  April 25, 2018, with fares from just £29.99*. This will provide connections to the airline’s new services to Cleveland (inaugural flight 3 May 2018), Cincinnati (inaugural flight 9 May 2018), Detroit (inaugural flight 25 April 2018) and St. Louis (inaugural flight 17 May 2018). The starting price for all four new routes, will be from just £129.99*.

Tickets for the new routes are on sale NOW via www.wowair.co.uk.

“It’s a big day for WOW air as we launch flights from Stansted, our second London airport, plus services to these four new US Midwest destinations,” said Skúli Mogensen, CEO and Founder of WOW air. “We are proud of our growth over the last two years and will continue to work tirelessly to provide the lowest fares possible to connect the UK to North America, helping to make international travel truly a possibility for everyone.”

“We are delighted WOW air has chosen to come to London Stansted and become the latest airline to join our growing base of carriers operating from the airport,” said Martin Jones, London Stansted’s Commercial Director. “Reykjavik is a fantastic city and I’m sure it will prove to be a very popular destination in its own right but with the added benefit of opening up the airline’s extensive North American route network from its Icelandic hub, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Montreal, these new flights will also appeal to both business and leisure passengers from London and East of England as well those visiting the UK from the USA.”

St. Louis, known as the “Gateway to the West”, is an ideal launch pad for any US road trip, while Cleveland’s  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Cincinnati’s best known regional food, Cincinnati Chili, are now an affordable flight away. Detroit’s addition also means that the “Motor City” and birthplace of Motown and techno music will become accessible to those on a budget.

The transatlantic airline will now offer a total of 14 destinations in North America, building on the success of routes to Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York, Toronto, Boston, Montreal, Washington D.C. and Californian destinations Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami.

Flights from Iceland to the four US destinations will be serviced by WOW air’s fleet of Airbus A321 aircraft. The aircraft provide excellent fuel efficiency, low operating costs and spacious cabins.

The daily schedule from Stansted will be:

STN-KEF     17:20 Local – 19:30 Local

KEF-STN     12:05 Local – 16:15 Local
