Ciao Date Named as Finalist for Best New Dating App in the European Dating Awards

Ciao Date Named as Finalist for Best New Dating App in the European Dating Awards
26 April 2016 James Brooke

A creative approach to user experience, a commitment to romance and to female safety have led to Ciao Date, the UK-based dating app which launched last week, being shortlisted for Best New Dating App in the European Dating Awards, to be held on 12 May in Amsterdam.

Ciao Date is the only dating app that offers users a refined search facility based on proposed budget, location, interests, events and time of a date.

Founder and developer of Ciao Date, Alex Ziff, says: “It’s incredibly exciting to be a finalist in the prestigious European Dating Awards. After putting so much into developing a truly unique dating app, it’s fantastic that Ciao Date is being recognised as an industry leader in Europe so soon after we have launched.”

“Recent research has shown that almost a quarter of single people think that many dating apps are nothing more than a route to sex, and what these people are looking for is a safe and enjoyable way to meet their potential soulmate, someone to build and meaningful and respectful relationship with.

“Since we officially launched the app on the 21st of April, from the reaction we’ve seen, in terms of engagement, it confirms there’s a huge section of people out there who have not been sufficiently served by the other dating-type apps available, up until now.”

Alex believes the key to changing the common perception of dating apps is to remember that it’s not online dating, but a platform to meet people you might never have met before: “The app is an online gateway to meeting people in real life – what Ciao Date does is ensure the method of finding someone is more accurate, and safe, so that both parties will enjoy their evening together,” says Alex.

Between 2001 and 2011, the number of single adults in the UK rose by 5% (ONS). A year ago it had been predicted that the UK dating market would grow from £165m to £225m by 2019; driven in part by a continued rise in the number of single people. (Report by Mintel in partnership with Global Dating Insights, April 2015).

The European Dating Awards, held in Amsterdam in May 2016, celebrate excellence and expertise in all areas of the dating industry. This is the first year the Dating Awards have been expanded to cover all of Europe, as well as the UK. There are 10 award categories: Best New Dating App; Online Dating Brand of the Year; Dating App of the Year; Entrepreneur of the Year; Matchmaking Agency of the Year; Best Niche Dating Site; Innovation in the Industry; Safer Dating Award; Best Marketing Campaign; and Best Customer Service.

Ciao Date is a finalist in the category of Best New Dating App at the European Dating Awards.

About Ciao Date
Ciao Date is the most exciting new dating app on the market and has a number of key features differentiating it from other dating apps. These include the ability to decide who pays for a date up front; choose whether you want to host a date, be taken on a date, or share the costs.

Either way, you’re able to get the awkward money conversation out of the way. Ciao Date also matches daters based on shared interests and desired activities, and the user can choose a specific location to date within.

Unlike other dating apps, Ciao Date does not use phone tracking technology, meaning the user’s location is protected unless they choose to share it with someone. Instead, the user can select the geographic areas they wish to date in without automatically disclosing their whereabouts.

Ciao Date aims to bring romance to modern technology by bringing people closer together through successful matches, dispelling the myth that dating apps are clinical or only useful for quick hook-ups. Regardless of gender or sexual preference, all users can enjoy the journey to finding a long-term partner with Ciao Date.

Ciao Date has been developed by Alexander Ziff, in London, and is now free to download from the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
