Stag Weekend to Bethlehem?

Stag Weekend to Bethlehem?
16 December 2015 admin_rooster

Industry thought-leader’s latest recommendation is the Holy Grail of stag and hen parties.

The UK’s stag and hen industry thought-leader, Last Night of Freedom, has announced an unlikely new destination, which could offer the perfect combination of culture and camaraderie. Steeped with history, culture and tradition, Bethlehem may be one of the last places to be considered as the setting for your last night of freedom; however, the company thinks Bethlehem could be the perfect choice for stag and hen parties looking for something a little different.

According to Last Night of Freedom, a five night trip to Bethlehem and Tel Aviv represents the perfect end to singledom, embracing sun and sea, historical landmarks and culture, and an extraordinary, buzzing night-life scene. The two-day cultural tour element includes a visit to Manger Square and the Church of Nativity, Masada – where King Herod built his palace over 2,000 years ago, and the opportunity to float in the Dead Sea. This bucket-list box-ticking few days in the Holy Land is part of a larger trend that is totally changing the perception of the traditional stag or hen weekend, according to Last Night of Freedom Managing Director, Matt Mavir:

“The evolution of the stag do has been pretty incredible over the 16 years that I’ve been working in the industry. We’ve seen the meteoric rise of the stag weekend, and as more parties choose to spend time abroad, we’re now starting to get more variation in locations. Whilst the more traditional destinations such as Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest and Tallinn remain popular choices, we’re really enjoying offering locations that may never have been considered previously,” says Matt.

“Just as you’re (hopefully) only going to get married once, you’ll only have one stag do. Now people are starting to take the opportunity to spend their last night (or week) of freedom in once-in-a-lifetime destinations, making it a truly unforgettable experience,” he adds.

The move towards using stag and hen dos as an opportunity for an educative and enlightening experience might fill some people with dread, however the cultural choice doesn’t mean the stags and hens will be tucked up in bed shortly after the tour buses return in the evening. Matt explains: “The nightlife in Tel Aviv, for example, is sensational. Things don’t get going until around 11:00pm, and there’s no last orders policy; so you’ll be able to watch biblical sunrises in the early hours, I’m sure!

Matt concludes: “At Last Night of Freedom, the most important thing for us is to deliver what you want when it comes to one of the most important, memorable nights out you will ever have with your friends as a single person. We’re responding to the increasing demand for more unusual destinations, but know that elements of the traditional stag do will remain a priority for people for years to come. Whatever you have in mind, we’ll make sure your stag or hen gets the send-off he or she deserves!”
