Wimdu.co.uk rounds up top Oscars-inspired accommodation ahead of 2014 awards.

On 2 March Hollywood’s rich and famous will gather for the 86th Academy Awards ceremony and fans are finding increasingly quirky ways to celebrate.

From a Captain Phillips lifeboat to Jordan Belfort-style yachts, social accommodation company Wimdu.co.uk takes a look at some of this year’s best Oscars-inspired properties.

Get closer to this year’s nominees:

Captain Phillips – Stay in a Survival Capsule
Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the lifeboat that played a pivotal role in Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks and nominated for best film, the lifeboat capsule in Scheveningen, Holland, allows fans to experience one of the film’s most iconic scenes. The capsules were transformed into portable hotels in 2004 by artist Denis Oudendijk. Two guests can choose between a survival package of fishnet hammocks and blankets, or a luxury capsule containing silk bedding, champagne, a DVD player and even a disco ball.

Become the next Wolf of Wall Street
Relive the wild life of Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, in this high roller’s-style apartment. Just like Jordan’s fictional home, this corner penthouse offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and access to an in-house gym and pool.

Another of Belfort’s famous ‘toys’ is his 167-foot yacht.  Like the ‘Naomi’ in the film, this yacht, anchored in Barcelona, spends most of her time in the Mediterranean, and comes with her very own captain.

Experience Philomena’s beautiful Irish countryside

Perhaps the most surprising of the Oscar nominees, Philomena, is set in the stunning Irish countryside. Scenes of rolling hills and quaint cottages have seen towns such as Roscrea, where the film takes place, see an influx of tourists. This beautiful cottage with acres of green fields can be found just 15km from Roscrea, and is perfect for a peaceful getaway in the countryside.

Where to enjoy the Oscars ceremony:

Your own private cinema (for a day)

Where better to enjoy the ceremony than in your very own cinema. Invite some friends and enjoy a nap during the lengthy acceptance speeches. And with all the Oscar nominated movies available on-demand, there’s no better way for a film-buff to enjoy the 86th Academy Awards.
