Bownty.com reveals the UK’s restaurant daily deal habits.

Industry research from Bownty.com, the daily deal aggregator, has revealed that Brits are serial savvy eaters and save up to £170,000 on eating out on an average weekday.

The figures suggest that on a typical weekday, UK consumers’ fork out around £140,000 on over 5,000 restaurant deals from companies including Groupon, LivingSocial and Wowcher, by using restaurant deals for everything from a decadent seven course tasting menu to a celebratory afternoon tea for two.

With an average saving of 55 per cent and up to six different restaurant deals available in any city on a typical weekday, Brits are getting bang for their buck when dining out with friends and family.

“Restaurant deals are our most popular category and the 2-for-1 voucher is still the most common deal format for restaurant deals, meaning consumers can simply enjoy eating out without being shocked by the bill at the end,” says Steffen W. Frølund, CEO of Bownty.com.

“As the UK edges out of the recession, daily deals continue to thrive. The diverse range of restaurant deals available across the whole of the UK every day is helping to tempt Brits out of their houses, without breaking the bank,” continues Frølund.

The website’s innovative ‘Deal Wallet’ is also helping consumers to keep track of all of their deals in one place, on the Bownty website or app, by sending reminders when each deal is due to expire, meaning vouchers will never be wasted again.
