AeroMobile Passes One Million Mark for Connected Flights

AeroMobile Passes One Million Mark for Connected Flights
1 December 2016 James Brooke

AeroMobile has connected over one million flights since its launch.

Leading inflight connectivity provider AeroMobile, in partnership with Panasonic Avionics, has passed another milestone having connected over one million flights. AeroMobile was the first to introduce inflight connectivity in 2008 and now has over 340 roaming agreements in more than 145 countries.

The AeroMobile service allows passengers to use their own mobile devices to text, make calls and browse the internet inflight. The service is simple to use; passengers simply turn on their mobile device to connect to the network and are billed directly by their mobile operator.

AeroMobile was also the first to introduce 3G inflight connectivity and is delighted to announce that over half of its partnered airlines now offer aircraft with 3G. Offering 3G connectivity means a faster service and an experience much closer to that on the ground.

The AeroMobile fleet now flies to 110 different country destinations, and over 40 million passengers’ have successfully attached to the AeroMobile network. Users and usage has increased significantly year-on-year and, so far in 2016, mobile data is up 50 per cent, call minutes 100 per cent and sent SMS 5 per cent, compared to the same period last year.

“We’ve seen significant growth over the years with additional airlines and aircraft connecting to the AeroMobile network and the 1 million mark is just the start as our network continues to grow. This is a great milestone for us and we will continue to lead the way for inflight connectivity,” said Kevin Rogers, CEO of AeroMobile.
