Birmingham-based student accommodation provider, Student Roost, is on track to raise £30K for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Muscular Dystrophy UK.
A team of 12 Student Roost staff, made up of employees from all areas of the business including the CEO, are putting their blood sweat and tears into training to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge on the 14th June. With over £20K already raised, they’re doing everything they can to reach their target for the charities.
On a mission to raise as much money as possible, the team has been training for the gruelling challenge since March with their routine including regular hiking trips, strength and conditioning work and sprint sessions.
The 24-hour endurance challenge will see the Student Roost team hiking for 23 miles and climbing 10,052 ft – 20-times the height of Birmingham’s BT Tower. Scaling the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, the Three Peaks Challenge comprises Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and the summit of Snowdon in Wales.
The two selected charities have personal connections for two of the members taking part in the challenge.
Adam Simmons, Area Manager at Student Roost, said: “Birmingham Children’s Hospital provided exceptional care to my nephew, Noah, when he was unwell during the first few years of his life. The money we raise will help the staff continue their excellent work and provide care and support for patients and their families.”
Stephen Rigby, Real Estate Director at Student Roost, said: “I’ve been involved with Muscular Dystrophy UK for a number of years, sitting on the committee for the Microscope Ball – an annual fundraising event run by the charity. Muscular Dystrophy is a devasting illness and urgent funding is needed for the charity to continue research into treatments and providing vital support to families.”
