CEO & founder joins team of industry experts to drive forward eDeal agenda.

Steffen Frølund, founder and CEO of Bownty, the daily deal aggregator, has been elected to the eDeal Association’s first board of directors.

The association, set up in April 2012 following industry demand, is the first and only trade body for the daily deal, flash sale and voucher code industry.

Joining Frølund on the organisation’s first elected board is Miguel Braga, CEO and founder of Hibonus.com and Bonus.pt in Portugal; and Michael Hensch, PR & Public Affairs Manager at Dailydeal.de, Germany.

The new board takes responsibility for the direction of the eDeal Association over the next two years.

“I’m honoured to be part of the eDeal Association’s board of directors. A forum for cooperation and knowledge-sharing is vital in this sector, and the association plays an important role in bringing the industry together, to address the issues we are all facing on a day-to-day basis,” said Frølund.

“One of our most important tasks is to ensure a functional code of conduct, and to do that we need to engage members in the work of the association. Our role as directors will be to ensure we are all working towards the goals that will be of most benefit to the industry,” continues Frølund.

According to figures from Bownty, which collects deals from over 250 providers worldwide, British consumers spend around £475 million every year on deals and offers from companies such as Groupon, Living Social and Wowcher.

“It’s very important for us to have the board in place to provide strategic guidance, direction and advice for the association,” said Stavros Prodromou, CEO of the eDeal Association.
