Ultra-low fares to celebrate airline’s inaugural flight.

WOW air, Iceland’s only low cost airline, has today announced the return of £139.991 fares to celebrate the commencement of its new service from the UK to Chicago.

The fares are on sale now, to coincide with the airline’s inaugural flight. Travellers from London Gatwick can snap up a flight for £139.99 (valid for the travel period September to March), with the same fares from Edinburgh and Bristol.

Skúli Mogensen, CEO of WOW air, said: “The commencement of our new route to Chicago is a fantastic milestone and reflection of our continued growth. Our mission is to provide the cheapest transatlantic fares on the market and through our latest fare initiative we’re continuing to deliver on our promise, making vibrant destinations such as Chicago viable for travellers wishing to avoid hefty travel costs.”

Flights will depart from London Gatwick, Bristol and Edinburgh to Chicago via Reykjavik, bringing the city’s diverse cultural offering, dramatic skyscapes, acclaimed gastronomy and lively sporting scene to UK travellers on a budget. The service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) will operate four times per week from London (increasing to six times a week during the peak summer season), four times a week from Edinburgh (as of this winter) and twice a week from Bristol.

The flights from Reykjavik to Chicago will be serviced by WOW air‘s fleet of Airbus A321 aircraft, acclaimed for their wider cabin, low operating costs and excellent fuel efficiency. The total flight time from KEF-ORD will be 6 hours 40 minutes, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The approximate total journey time from London Gatwick will be 11 hours, including stopover.
