One of the key challenges facing award-winning cruise tour operator Cruise Nation (and indeed the whole cruise industry) is to overturn outdated assumptions that cruising is “just for old people” and highlight the amazing experiences available for cruise guests.
To achieve this, alongside generating coverage outside of the ‘late deal’ sections and securing extensive, in-depth articles around the cruise experience, we partnered with Norwegian Cruise Line to host eight journalists and bloggers on a group press trip.
We boarded the Norwegian Epic in Civitavecchia (Rome) for a four night Western Med trip with highlights including drinks in the Epic’s own Ice Bar, live stage shows such as renowned drag musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert and ballroom sensation Burn the Floor, incredible onboard restaurants and dancing the night away until the early hours in the Epic’s own club, Bliss.
Excursions included a tour of Fragonard‘s perfume factory in Grasse, exploring the beautiful cobblestone alleyways of St-Paul de Vence, cocktails in Cannes, propping up the leaning tower of Pisa, exploring Palma de Mallorca and a gorgeous wine tasting and tapas brunch at the Torres winery in Barcelona (courtesy of Cruise Nation’s excursion partners Tripashore).
Needless to say, the journalists had an incredible time – and Cruise Nation was delighted with the results. We generated positive, on-message coverage in a range of titles including The Scottish Sun, Daily Star, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Ed Explores and a host of regional papers including Wales on Sunday, Sunday Sun (Newcastle upon Tyne) and Sunday Mercury (Birmingham).
All in all, it’s safe to say that the press trip was EPIC!
